Dead Horse SP, Cottonwood AZ

We left Gold Canyon a day early to have a new radiator installed in Phoenix.  We spent a few days at the Deserts Edge RV Park before heading to our current location at Dead Horse.  This place is beautiful, mountainous, along the Verde River, lush greens with a splash of desert characteristics.  We wanted to post photos of our day excursion to Tonto Natural Bridge, the largest natural bridge carved fromTravertine in the world!  It was a little bit of a drive so we made it a picnic day too!  We did have to hike down which was very nice, but we had to hike UP too which was steep and somewhat strenuous.  Apparently the Park Ranger who said be careful as it is strenuous wasn't kidding!  But we made it and it was worth it.  Plus the picnic was fun!

Thursday our friends Ron & Allison arrived and we caught up for a few minutes last night.  This morning we are greeted with a rainy day which is very much needed as we have been dry for almost 70 days straight and fire danger is always a worry.

We also went to Tuzigoot (Apache word for crooked water) which is the remnants of a Sinagua village built between 1000-1400.  It rises 120 feet over the Verde Valley.  The village began with 50 people and ultimately housed 200 in the 2 story pueblo structures.
